Position Overview: 

Trinity Services, Inc. is hiring home-based, entry-level Shared Living Contractors for an opportunity to live in a Trinity home while supporting two people with intellectual disabilities.

This contract position is perfect for small families or individuals seeking a meaningful career assisting other people achieve their goals. Based on lifestyle preferences of the parties involved, the Shared Living Program matches each Contractor with two people who have a developmental disability. The Contractor balances providing direct support and care, while considering the individuals equal, contributing members of the household.

Contractors receive on-going support from Trinity Services in the form of training, regularly scheduled check-ins, guidance to both the Shared Living Contractor and persons served to help ensure positive relationships are fostered and maintained, and assistance from the Shared Living Director.

Responsibilities:

Shared Living Contractors provide services based on the level and type of assistance required by those supported. Responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting the people in progress towards their life priorities and goals
  • Building a strong, supportive relationship with the residents
  • Transporting the people to their job, community day service, medical appointments, and other places as requested
  • Assuring the provision of all necessary medical and dental care
  • Assisting the residents in self-administering their medications
  • Providing nutritious meals
  • Providing 24-hour supervision – depending on the level of support needed
  • Maintaining necessary documentation
  • Assisting with personal hygiene, as necessary
  • Providing opportunities for indoor and outdoor recreation
  • Shopping for clothing, personal items, etc. as desired
  • Assisting the person with their finances
  • Maintaining a clean and safe home that follows regulatory requirements as specified by the State of Illinois, and participating in the survey process
  • Supporting individual religious and cultural beliefs and practices
  • Participating in monthly monitoring visits at the home, as well as periodic team meetings

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be 21 or older
  • Pass background and fingerprinting checks
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license, with clean driving record
  • Own a vehicle that is sufficiently insured
  • Complete required trainings upon hire
  • Additional qualifications may include: balancing, pulling, pushing, standing, climbing, grasping, stooping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching, lifting, repetitive motion, pushing wheelchairs, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
