Trinity Advocates for Mental Health!
On Friday, January 10, 2025, local radio station WJOL/Joliet invited Rachel Evans, Program Director of The Living Room in Joliet, a division of Trinity Services, and Tamara Smith, a Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS), to be guest hosts on the Mary and Natalie show to discuss mental health and The Living Room. They also shared success stories.
“We spoke about the Living Room’s powerful peer support model,” said Evans. “We offer guests a safe, comforting space with non-judgmental, empathetic support from people, like Tamara, with lived experience who understand the challenges of mental health and everyday stressors.”
The Living Room, a free, home-like alternative to the emergency room, offers people experiencing a crisis a safe, calm, and positive environment to receive comfort and support. “Anyone 18 years of age or older who is experiencing a mental health crisis, is having a rough day, or requires someone to talk to can visit the Living Room either in-person or remotely by phone and benefit from its services,” added Smith. “We are open 24/7, 365 days a year!”
The Living Room has two locations: 2000 Glenwood Avenue in Joliet, (779) 341-5090, and 16514 106th Court in Orland Park, (708) 981-3370. For more information, go to The Living Room.
