Trinity Looking for Your Fond Memories!

History

Trinity Services will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its inaugural year, and part of it will include special events and activities, and will feature the publication of a commemorative book about Trinity's unique history.

Founded in 1950, Trinity is a nonprofit, nonsectarian organization that provides person-directed services and supports to people with disabilities and mental health needs.  Initiated by a group of dedicated parents as a small school for children with developmental disabilities, Trinity has since grown to offer a wide range of support for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health concerns.

These include residential options, community day services, employment services, autism services, a school program, crisis prevention and intervention services, intensive outpatient services, counseling services, The Living Room (an alternative to the emergency room for people experiencing a mental health crisis), homeless support services, and therapeutic horseback riding program.

To create its Diamond Jubilee commemorative book, Trinity staff is reaching out to families who have been a part of the organization over the years.  At the same time, they are searching for historical photos, newpaper articles, and other memorabilia.

Sherry Ladislas, director of development for Trinity, said plans are already in the works for the celebration.

"We are planning on making the theme of our annual dinner dance at DiNolfo's in Homer Glen on September 20, 2025," she said.

"We'd really love to talk to family members of our founders," said Ladislas.  "It is our hope to invite them to attend the dinner dance next year to honor them."

Families with ties to Trinity, founding members, or supporters with information to share are asked to contact Sherry Ladislas at (815) 717-3750 or at sladislas@trinityservices.org.
